Jeremy Jordan (Broadway/film performer)

Jeremy Jordan (born c. 1985)[1] is an American actor and singer. He has performed on Broadway and in television and film, as well as in other theatrical productions. He is best known in the role of Tony in the 2010 Broadway production of West Side Story.

Life and career

Jordan grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and sang as a teenager, also beginning to act in high school.[2] He graduated from Ithaca College, where he earned a BFA in musical theatre.[3] In 2008, he starred as Alex in The Little Dog Laughed at Hartford Theatreworks, for which he received a Connecticut Critics' Circle Nomination.[4] Later in the same year, he played the role of Tom Sawyer in Big River at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut. He appeared in the Broadway cast of Rock of Ages in 2009.[5] He also made a 2008 television appearance, guest starring on NBC's Law & Order: SVU in the episode "Streetwise".

Jeremy starred as an alternate for the leading role of Tony in the 2009 Broadway revival of West Side Story.[6] He also starred as Clyde Barrow in the 2010 pre-Broadway Sarasota, Florida tryout of the new musical, Bonnie & Clyde by Frank Wildhorn and Don Black.[7] He played Jack in the stage version of Newsies at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey in September and October 2011.[8] He debuted the role of Clyde when the show opened on Broadway on December 1, 2011.[9] The show closed on December 30, 2011 after 69 performances.[10]

He stars in the forthcoming Warner Bros film, Joyful Noise, also starring Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer and Dolly Parton.[11]

Jordan is engaged to marry actress Ashley Spencer.[2]
